An interesting article featured on Surface Magazine, written by Gabrielle Golenda, talks about the future of the workplace post-pandemic from a design standpoint. Five architectural firms gave their opinions on what the future will look like. These five firms are: Wiess/Manfredi, Wolfgang & Hite, Montalba Architects, Studio O+A, and Karim Rashid. All of the design firms think that the future workplace will focus on flexible environments that will allow for work inside and outside of the office. The reason for this is not only for efficiency but also for work environments that will be better adjusted for potential future pandemics. Another common belief is that architectural firms will start implementing designs that are beneficial to the environment and human health by including organic elements like plants and other landscaping practices. All of these predictions paint a picture that is a lot different from the current workplace we are accustomed to, and it will be interesting to see how these predictions will hold up going into the future.
