Louis Poulsen is making a significant change in the North America Market effective 1 JAN 2023. Last week, Kent Pedersen, the current President and CEO of Louis Poulsen, USA, sent a press release announcing that he is creating a new distributor, called NEO Architectural Lighting that will be wholly owned by himself and Amir Bagherlee. In 2023, NEO will be responsible for Louis Poulsen’s B2B market in North America and Louis Poulsen will manage the B2C market.
Your humble editor spoke to Kent yesterday and he explained, “Louis Poulsen is about 70% B2C globally and it is the exact opposite in North America. With more people working from home during COVID, the B2C grew dramatically.”
Kent also said that more research and development dollars are flowing toward the luxury decorative side. Louis Poulsen wants to double their sales in the next 4 to 5 years in North America and their B2B business continues to be an important business channel.
Kent said that 85% of the Louis Poulsen employees will stay with the new company and NEO plans to maintain the Louis Poulsen rep network. When I asked if the rep commissions will remain the same, he stated, “Yes, it will be business as usual.”
