HOK’s Kansas City studio is undergoing strategic leadership changes, with Chris DeVolder and Paul Jacob at the forefront of these transitions. Chris DeVolder, currently the Managing Principal in Kansas City, is set to embark on a new role as the Director of HOK’s Sports + Recreation + Entertainment practice, specifically focusing on the soccer market. With over two decades of experience, DeVolder has been a key player in leading project teams for complex professional and collegiate sports facilities.
DeVolder’s notable contributions include serving as the principal-in-charge for the CITYPARK stadium and training facility of St. Louis CITY SC, which opened its doors in 2023. Currently, he is leading the HOK team in the design of New York City FC’s stadium, a significant project that will mark the first dedicated professional soccer stadium in New York.
In the wake of DeVolder’s transition, Paul Jacob, AIA, LEED AP, will step into the role of Managing Principal in Kansas City. Jacob, previously a senior leader in HOK’s St. Louis studio, brings an extensive four-decade background in the industry. Before joining HOK, he held principal and co-owner positions in a mid-size architecture firm and served as vice president of a construction management and real estate development company.
