A collaborative effort between Lam Partners, Lytei & Luxsi, and Women in Lighting + Design (WILD) aims to shine a light on the often overlooked contributions of women in the lighting design industry. By curating a list of notable female figures and conducting interviews with professionals, the project seeks to document the achievements of women in lighting and immortalize them on Wikipedia. Lesley Wheel, a founding member of the IALD, became the first woman to have her profile added to Wikipedia through this initiative. WILD is now encouraging its members and chapters to contribute to this endeavor by organizing local “Edit-a-Thons” to create Wikipedia pages for other deserving women in the field. A webinar on March 27th will provide more information about the project and how individuals can get involved in celebrating the legacy of women in lighting design.
