The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) recently announced the election of Bradley McCauley, PLA, FASLA, as President-Elect for the 2025-2026 term. McCauley, the only licensed Landscape Architect in the election, will be sworn in at the 2024 Conference on Landscape Architecture in Washington, DC, from October 6-9. This event will also celebrate ASLA’s 125-year history.
In addition to McCauley’s election, Kona Gray, FASLA, will be sworn in as president, and SuLin Kotowicz, FASLA, will assume her role as past-president.
McCauley, who will also be elevated to the 2024 Council of Fellows, is licensed in 14 states and led a five-year effort to protect licensure in Illinois by regaining the Title Act. A graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, he now serves on the university’s Department of Landscape Architecture Resource Committee. McCauley has worked as a Landscape Architect for 17 years and has been the managing principal at site design group in Chicago, Illinois, for the past decade.
Reflecting on his election, McCauley stated, “I am deeply honored and grateful to be elected as the next President-Elect of ASLA! My heartfelt thanks go out to all the members for your trust and support. Building on the foundation of our major initiatives, strategic plan, and major developments such as STEM designation and the elevation of nature-based solutions by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, we have a unique opportunity to elevate our profession.”
McCauley’s extensive experience and dedication to the field position him well to lead ASLA into a new era, focusing on significant initiatives and strategic plans that will shape the future of landscape architecture.
