The LHRC Announces Online Courses for 2026

The Light and Health Research Center (LHRC) will once again offer two online professional certificate courses in 2026. These interactive educational programs will be led by LHRC faculty and staff, recognized as leading experts in lighting design and light-and-health research. Both courses begin in September, and registration is now open.

Dan Frering, the LHRC’s education program director noted the strong response to prior sessions., “previous sessions of these courses have been highly rated by participants,” he said. One attendee of last year’s light and health course shared, “This was an excellent course, and the instructors were extremely knowledgeable. I highly recommend this to anyone working in the lighting field.”

The 2026 educational programs include:

Online Professional Certificate Course in Lighting Design

September 10, 2026 – November 12, 2026

This 10-week online professional certificate course provides the knowledge and practical skills needed for professionals in lighting-related fields to begin or enhance their practice in architectural lighting design. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of lighting principles for a wide variety of interior and exterior applications.

Online Certificate Course in Light and Human Health

September 23, 2026 – October 21, 2026

This 5-week interactive online course offers an in-depth look at the latest research on the interaction between light and human health. The program explores how lighting can be applied to support health and wellbeing in schools, offices, hospitals, homes, and other environments.
