What: On behalf of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Architect Thomas Vonier, FAIA, was invited by Representative Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) to provide expert feedback on design strategies that can improve security and accessibility at the U.S. Capitol and other Washington, D.C. landmarks.
The roundtable discussion will include Vonier, Major General Errol R. Schwartz, landscape architect Faye Harwell, FASLA, and President and CEO of the National Association for Olmsted Parks (NAOP), Dede Neal Petri. The discussion will explore ways buildings can be fortified while reducing the need for fencing and other barriers that may limit the public’s accessibility.
The event can be live streamed online beginning at 7 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, June 1.
