Job Responsibilities:
As an architectural lighting designer, you will support the lighting studio working towards our designs that are inspiring, demanding and highly collaborative. You will be responsible for providing trade-specific system design: layout, calculations (utilizing appropriate software), and coordination with the designs of other trades (architectural and engineering / internal and external). You will conduct field inspections to determine existing conditions and to coordinate new work.

Additional Responsibilities Include:
Create designs from concept through construction administration under the direction of the senior designer(s), produce CAD and/or REVIT construction lighting drawings for a variety of projects and project sizes
Support the design efforts of lighting systems for new installations, system retrofits, system replacement and system upgrades for a wide variety of projects and project types
Learn drawing organization and company standards
Take ownership of completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of the work assignments

What You’ll Be Doing:
We are looking to recruit an Environmental Lighting Designer. Ideally the successful candidate will have relevant environmental lighting design experience (light pollution/impact assessments) and be used to working within a lighting design team on a variety of projects.

The successful candidate will be required to produce light impact assessments, as conceptual lighting design information, provide detailed lighting integration information, attend meetings, liaise with the design team and provide project support for all RIBA stages.

They will be highly motivated, passionate, enthusiastic, imaginative, and be able to demonstrate excellent design and project management skills within their current position.

What We Are Looking For:
You should have a degree in design, architecture, engineering, environmental or a similar discipline. A knowledge or awareness of the environmental and human impacts of light pollution, preferably with experience of working in a lighting consultancy or relevant discipline. You will have a working knowledge of exterior lighting design and light impact issues, both its technical aspects and aesthetically, and an ability to express ideas both visually and verbally. Training will be provided where necessary, but you must be able to show a track record of learning new skills.

You will require an understanding of some lighting design calculation tools; such as AGI 32, Lighting Reality, Relux or Dialux, however training will be provided to an appropriate candidate. Knowledge of AutoCAD (BIM), Photoshop, Office and 3D design tools would be beneficial for this role.

Responsibilities:
Support the design implementation and lighting installation effort under the supervision of and as directed by the Principal lighting design leads for the project
Interface with the Show Lighting design lead for the project
Interfaces and coordinates with other show related disciplines
Lead all Show Lighting Controls system efforts for the project including system design, field verification, test and adjust and programming
Support development of and communicate Show Lighting design concepts
Develop and input to Show Lighting database, schedules, dimmer panels, and Show Lighting drawings
Work with electrical engineering disciplines to insure placement of lighting design on electrical drawings
Work with other disciplines throughout the project phases
Research fixture information and lighting technologies to support design effort
Work with supervisor to follow budget and schedule

Basic Qualifications:
Minimum 1 year in related professional environment
Minimum 1 year design experience with lighting control and networking
Experience in the technical aspects of Theater Arts and its associated skills
Can read architectural blueprints and interpret electrical drawings
Proficiency with CAD drafting programs both 2D and 3D
Experience with word processing and spread sheet format programs (Microsoft Word & Excel or equivalent)
Familiar with the use of standard theatrical documentation (focus charts, fixture schedules, dimmer/control schedules)
Have working understanding of the theatrical applications of light (focus, color, texture, highlight and shadow, key and fill)
Have a basic to advanced understanding of the electrical configuration of theatrical dimming systems and its control and LED/RGB infrastructure

Overview: The junior lighting designer collaborates with project managers, senior lighting designers and other team members to develop a design which combines the creative expertise of all team members. The junior lighting designer plays an integral role in supporting the design team by:
Helping analyze and select lighting from appropriate sources.
Producing architectural drawings using software tools such as AutoCAD or Revit.
Creating and working with models, mock-ups and prototypes.
Working with senior designers and project managers to provide excellent lighting design services to clients

Job Description:
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Lighting Designer will be responsible for all aspects of lighting/video operations for the event from start to finish. The ability to work as part of a team is critical for this position.

Key responsibilities are as follows:
Performs the load-in and load-out of band and rental equipment
Set up and break-down of band and event equipment
Focus and lighting adjustments to artist or event specifications
Lighting Control Boards operation & programming
Maintenance and repair of lighting equipment
Assist with Production throughout the house as needed
Accommodate artist/ event A/V requirements
Responsible for safe and consistent operation of lighting
If necessary, assist Production Manager with the technical advance specific to lighting
Ensure proper care and handling of all in house and rental lighting & A/V equipment
Interact with visiting production crews to ensure a successful show
Distribute or create lighting plot plans
Oversee and operate systems pertaining to lighting throughout the entire event
Ensure special events lighting needs are scheduled and met
Operate, maintain and set up video/projection systems
Assist audio crew with stands, microphones, cables, etc.
