The International Landscape Lighting Institute (ILLI) is announcing dates for the Spring 2023 Intensive Course to be held in New Harmony, Indiana, from March 30 to April 4, 2023.
Registration for the Spring 2023 Intensive Course is now open on the ILLI website at https://www.illiedu.org/Intensive-Course.
ILLI recently completed its third, sold-out Intensive Course since the pandemic caused postponement of all courses that had been scheduled for 2020 and the spring of 2021. The Fall 2022 class, which was also held in New Harmony, Indiana, had 24 attendees and 19 mentors. The mentors are former graduates of the class and industry professionals who volunteer to teach the various aspects of landscape lighting design.
The Intensive Course (aka “IC”) is a 5-day boot camp for anyone who wants to learn more about landscape lighting design. From those new to the industry to experienced designers, the Intensive Course provides a complete learning experience. The course consists of over 28 hours of classroom lectures on light sources, electrical principles, luminaire selection, plant materials, design strategies, client relations, maintenance, and photography. This is combined with over 24 hours of hands-on instruction in the field, providing attendees the opportunity to collaborate with other attendees and the mentor team to design their own temporary installation. The class culminates in “Reveal Night” where the designs of each group are presented to the local public.
During the course, roundtable sessions with sponsoring manufacturers provide opportunities to speak directly with the manufacturers. Currently sponsors include Lumien Lighting, Sterling Lighting, Qtran, WAC Landscape Lighting, and ExcelsiorLighting.
