IALD Announces Six New Certified Lighting Designers

The International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) has announced the achievement of six individuals who have earned the esteemed Certified Lighting Designer (CLD) designation. Hailing from diverse locations and backgrounds, these lighting professionals have demonstrated remarkable expertise, knowledge, and dedication to the field, marking a significant milestone in their careers.

Administered by the Certified Lighting Design Commission, the rigorous certification process evaluates candidates’ proficiency in operating as lead architectural lighting designers, assessing their imaginative, technical, and professional responsibility skills.

The newest Certified Lighting Designers are:

– Amer Alchama, CLD, of Los Angeles, California, USA
– Angelica Santana, IALD, CLD, of Alexandria, Virginia, USA
– Huong Ly Duong, CLD, of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
– Lena Kang, IALD, CLD, of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
– Margareth Sunjoto, CLD, of Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia
– Michelle Johnson, Assoc. IALD, CLD, of Columbus, Ohio, USA

As the world’s first evidence-based certification program in architectural lighting design, the CLD title signifies these individuals’ proven track records of design excellence and successful validation of their skills through a stringent assessment process, setting high standards for professional practice.

David Becker, Chair of the Certified Lighting Design Commission, expressed pride in the 2023 CLD recipients, stating, “Recognized by this global benchmark of performance, we have no doubt that they will continue to make significant contributions to the field, elevating the quality and impact of lighting in spaces of all types.”
