Lighting Designer Relationships

Mark your calendars for April 23, 2025, when lighting professionals and enthusiasts will gather at the Fashion Institution of Technology’s Katie Murphy Amphitheater in New York City for an engaging and interactive event.

Titled “Transparency in the Sales Channel: An Interactive Discussion,” this session will run from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, offering valuable insights into strengthening the relationships between lighting designers, manufacturers, reps, distributors, and general contractors.

Building on the success of similar presentations from the 2022 and 2023 IALD Enlighten Americas Conferences, this updated New York version will delve deeper into the communication challenges and opportunities within the lighting industry. Attendees will hear from experts from both the Lighting Industry Resource Council (LIRC) and the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), who will present data from a cross-industry survey that explores how designers can better understand the motivations and challenges of their colleagues throughout the sales channel.

Why Attend? This event is an opportunity for designers to:

  • Improve communication with manufacturers and extend their influence across the sales channel.
  • Gain a better understanding of the roles of reps, distributors, and GCs.
  • Learn strategies to foster collaboration and clarity in the design process.

The event will feature a lively discussion moderated by Steven Rosen, FIALD, IES, President and Creative Director of Available Light, alongside a panel of industry experts:

  • Nancy Stathes, President of Specialty Lighting Industries
  • Alexis Arnoldi, IALD, MIES, LEED AP BD+C, Senior Associate at Cline Bettridge Bernstein Lighting Design
  • Mitchell Bloomberg, Principal at International Lights

Their combined expertise will provide fresh perspectives on how designers and manufacturers can collaborate more effectively.

Registration Details: IESNYC and IALD members can attend for a cost of $20. The fee is $30 for non-members, while students can attend the session for free.
