Great lighting design doesn’t end when the specification is complete. Bringing design intent through bidding, value engineering, procurement, and installation requires collaboration among designers, representatives, and manufacturers throughout the life of a project.
That relationship is at the center of “Behind Great Design: The Role of Exceptional Support,” a Business of Light live panel examining how the different sides of the lighting industry can work together to protect specifications and deliver successful projects.
The discussion will explore some of the challenges that arise between design and installation, including incomplete designs entering the bidding phase, specifications on out-of-town projects, changing compensation models, and value engineering that can compromise the original design.
Panelists will also examine the importance of involving the right partners early. Strong relationships and communication among designers, local representatives, and manufacturers can help identify problems before they reach the field while creating a clearer path for maintaining design intent.
The session brings together perspectives from across the industry. Claudio Ramos, Director at Electrolight, contributes more than 35 years of lighting design experience and leads the firm’s San Francisco design work. Ann Schiffers, CEO of Vode Lighting, brings experience spanning architectural lighting design, education, manufacturing, and executive leadership.
They will be joined by Alberto Portolani, Vice President of Targetti USA, whose background includes product development, manufacturing, market strategy, and building North American operations, and Jeff Teasley, Principal and General Manager of Performance Lighting Systems, whose career has included engineering, supply chain, marketing, sales, and lighting representation.
Maryanne Berger, Principal at ALR, will moderate the discussion.
Rather than looking at project management solely from one side of the specification process, the panel will address how designers, reps, and manufacturers each contribute to the final result—and what exceptional support looks like when a project moves from concept to reality.
The webinar is designed for lighting designers, sales representatives, manufacturers, and other professionals involved in managing specifications and translating design intent into completed projects.
Panelists: Claudio Ramos, Electrolight; Ann Schiffers, Vode Lighting; Alberto Portolani, Targetti USA; and Jeff Teasley, Performance Lighting Systems. Moderator: Maryanne Berger, ALR.
