Cherine Saroufim, IALD, has been appointed as the President’s Selected Director to the IALD Board of Directors for 2024 and 2025. Selected by IALD President Andrea Hartranft, FIALD, Saroufim is a respected lighting designer based in Lebanon. Holding a master’s degree in interior architecture from Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts (ALBA) and an MFA in Lighting Design from Parsons School of Design in New York, she actively works on projects across Lebanon, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, while also teaching lighting design at ALBA and serving as the Lebanese ambassador for Women in Lighting.
With significant involvement in the IALD, Cherine has presented sessions at recent IALD Enlighten conferences in Berlin and Tokyo, and represented the association at various international events.
Saroufim’s appointment underscores her expertise, accomplishments, and dedication to lighting design. Her leadership and advocacy for women in the industry, as well as the importance of lighting in social inclusion, will undoubtedly contribute to the IALD’s mission and vision.
