Alessa Aguayo sat for an interview with us at our studio at Light + Buildingin Frankfurt. She is the new Director of Sales for New York City at Lumenwerx, leading the New York City spec sales team. However, a significant part of our discussion centered on Women in Lighting + Design (WILD).
Alessa took over as WILD’s president in January, proudly announced that the organization has reached a milestone with 20 chapters, including two in Canada and 18 in the United States. WILD is expanding its reach, focusing on membership and mentorship, and aiming to include women from all sectors of the lighting industry, from engineering to customer service. The organization is dedicated to both personal and professional development, hosting varied events like self-defense classes and seminars on negotiation and maternity leave.
Moreover, WILD’s mentorship program is gaining momentum, with a pilot program exceeding expectations in applications, indicating a strong demand for guidance and support within the community.
