Our design process is collaborative and interactive, our projects are diverse and challenging. We design lighting for exterior environments and façades, public spaces, retail, corporate, academic and healthcare facilities.
A Lighting Designer I will work on a variety of projects and collaboratively with The Lighting Practice’s award-winning teams based in Chicago, IL, Dallas, TX, New York, NY, and Philadelphia, PA. Their responsibilities include:
- Support senior designers in developing innovative lighting concepts that align with overall project objectives.
- Collaborate effectively to ensure design integration and project success.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Lighting Design or a related field (Theater Lighting, Interior Design/Architecture, Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or Electrical Engineering)
- At least 1 year of experience in the architectural lighting industry

Our lighting designers are active leaders and innovators in this rapidly changing industry. For instance, the special grid design for the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia, creates a dynamic and themed atmosphere within the event space to support a wide variety of spaces and arrangements for the exhibits and displays.
Job Responsibilities
As an architectural lighting designer, you will support the lighting studio working towards our designs that are inspiring, demanding, and highly collaborative. You will be responsible for providing trade-specific system design: layout, calculations (utilizing appropriate software), and coordination with the designs of other trades (architectural and engineering / internal and external). You will conduct field inspections to determine existing conditions and coordinate new work.
Additional Responsibilities Include:
- Create designs from concept through construction administration under the direction of the senior designer(s), produce CAD and/or REVIT construction lighting drawings for a variety of projects and project sizes.
Job Requirements
The ideal candidate will enjoy a team environment and is also flexible enough to work independently where needed. Candidates for this role will be eager to learn and will expand their knowledge and hands-on experience by challenging themselves and using the highly technical resources around them.
Additional Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Architecture, Interior Design, Theater, Lighting Design, or Architectural Engineering
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of lighting design experience is required
