April 8, 2025

We have an opening in Chicago for an organized, detail-oriented design expert with Revit or CAD drafting experience. We seek a good collaborator who has strong technical and graphic skills.

Schuler Shook is an internationally recognized lighting design, theatre planning, and audio video design firm with projects in the United States and around the world. You will work with our team of collaborators in our Chicago office. We also share information and ideas with our offices in Dallas, Minneapolis, New York, San Francisco, and Melbourne, Australia.

WHAT YOU WILL DO: You will be part of our collaborative team of architectural lighting designers. You will support the lighting design team in the design and documentation of lighting projects. You will prepare presentation materials and construction documents for commercial spaces that range from museums to offices to landscapes to hospitality and healthcare. Your architecture, interior architecture, theatre, or lighting design background will inform your work and allow you to participate more completely in our design studios and discussions. The more graphic skills you have, the more aspects of our work you will be able to impact.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING: Your abilities are more important to us than the number of years of experience you have, but 2 years of drafting with Revit or AutoCAD are desired. You must be a proficient visual and verbal communicator and be able to manage multiple tasks to meet client deadlines. Proven expertise with Revit or CAD, Photoshop, and Bluebeam or Acrobat is required. Experience with Agi32, Elum Tools, or LightStanza is a plus. We are a client-driven office, so you will go beyond the drafting aspects of the job. Strong organizational skills and personal initiative are required.

WHAT WE ARE OFFERING: This is a position with healthcare benefits, paid vacation, 401k, profit sharing, bonuses, commuter plan with employer contribution, hybrid office/home work environment, cultural enrichment allowance, and the chance to work in a collaborative, team environment filled with folks who support each other as we create designs that contribute to better environments for all. Anticipated salary range is $56,000 - $60,000/year, commensurate with your ability and experience.

Schuler Shook is proud to provide equal employment opportunities in all employment practices. Our goal is to be a diverse team that is representative of the cities where we work. We will honor your experiences, perspectives, and unique identity. Together, we strive to create and maintain working and learning environments that are inclusive, equitable, and welcoming. All employment is decided on the basis of qualifications, merit, and business need.
