The Lighting Designer is responsible for collaboration with the architect, interior designer, client and electrical engineer to create a complete lighting design complete with fixture selection and controls. Lighting design will primarily be limited to front of house interiors, building façade and public realm spaces.

This position involves attending design meetings, creating lighting designs for the clients, recommending and selecting fixtures, and preparing and presenting submittal packages to clients. Graduate Lighting Designer

Responsibilities:

Design and research assistance for projects undertaken by the group;
Perform lighting calculations, layouts, detail design, fixture selection, reports and presentation creation for lighting projects;
Assistance onsite inspection and commission, including night-time site work (due to the nature of our work);
Work with other Arup disciplines on multi-disciplinary efforts.

Qualifications/Experience:
A degree or graduate degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Lighting, or other design related field;
Proficient with AutoCAD,Adobe Create Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and etc),
Microsoft office and other relevant rendering software;
Good written and verbal English skills, and able to communicate with international team or willingness to improve English communication skills;
Good communication skills;
Good team player, keen and able to contribute when working in a team on project(s) and also self-motivated as an individual;
Any International experience and Digital skills such as Revit, BIM software, VR, animation or 3D rendering capabilities are a bonus.

Taking design briefs/guidance from the Sales departments or client in order to work on lighting schemes that will add value to the business process and generate sales
Liaising with Lighting Account Managers and Internal Sales Coordinators to ensure all project requirements are clearly understood by all parties and tasks are delegated or escalated where necessary
Liaising with clients and attending client meetings when required

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works directly with the Noctiluca team to maintain client relationships and to ensure successful and timely project delivery
Uses Bluebeam, CAD and Revit to create accurate and easily readable drafted plots that can be promptly updated as necessary
Conceptualizing light in 3D space and integrating lighting design with architecture
Produces lighting presentations of concepts, layouts and details
General understanding of architectural process, design and construction phases
Graphic communication of design ideas and strategies
Lighting photometric calculations and analysis - daylight and electric lighting (using AGI32)
Strong lighting specification writing skills for lighting fixture schedules
Organize, setup and present lighting samples and mock-ups
Travel when necessary to visit project sites to effectively oversee the install and operation of lighting systems
Provides deliverables that meet required programming, codes and quality assurance standards
Working directly with principal to manage overall project scheduling and design concepts
Creating lighting plans, elevations, installation details, light level calculations, energy calculations, and light fixture schedules
Collaborate and initiate ideas with the project team in the design process (developing ideas, bringing ideas to the table)

RECOMMENDED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: 5+ years
Education: College Degree in related field

Responsibilities:
Support senior lighting designers with Revit Modeling and Lighting Design Calculations
Create sketches, renderings, and graphics to convey lighting design concepts to clients
Conduct site visits to document existing conditions and create punch lists at the completion of a project.
Perform basic quality control on all tasks provided.
Stay current on developing technology within the architectural lighting industry
Embrace specific steps to create, develop and promote a diverse workforce and to promote an inclusive environment
Willingness to travel for site visits is required.

Qualifications:
2+ years’ experience in a lighting design, architecture, or interior design firm
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Theater Lighting, Electrical Engineering or related discipline preferred.
Expertise with Autodesk Building Design Suite, specifically Revit, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Architecture, and/or AutoCAD MEP
Autodesk product certifications a plus
