Key Responsibilities:
Project Delivery:

Lighting Workshop, Inc. seeks a Lighting Design Manager in Brooklyn, NY. Job duties include: Manage the planning and design of lighting environments for residential and commercial interior spaces. Oversee design team during all project phases to monitor progress and review work to ensure compliance with project specifications. Coordinate with and direct construction personnel to ensure concept execution at project sites. Confer with clients to determine factors affecting planning interior environments, such as architectural preferences, purpose, and function.

Candidates must have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Lighting Design or a related field and at least two years of professional experience working in lighting design within the architecture industry. Must have at least two years of experience completing all phases of project lighting design and reviewing construction progress of lighting installation at project sites. Must have at least two years of experience performing lighting calculations, researching fixture alternatives, and reviewing fixture samples. Must have at least two years of experience documenting lighting design via CAD layouts, lighting details, light fixture schedules, and lighting control specifications. We are seeking talented applicants to assist our design team with producing REVIT and CAD drawings, schematic presentation packages, visual research, mock-up tests of lighting details, and general project support. Requirements:
-Proficiency in REVIT
-Advanced experience with AutoCAD
-Degree in Architectural Lighting, Engineering, or Theatrical Design preferred

-Comfortable with remote desktop and video conferencing tools
-Sketching and model building skills are a plus

With the launch of our new website in Fall 2020, we will be creating a blog as well as strengthening our social media presence. A goal of the new website is to provide more resources to our current membership as well as expand our membership by offering content supporting our events and the lighting and design industries. The new website will include a blog called Spotlight which will have posts on a variety of industry and related topics as well as recaps of our events. Social media would be utilized to let people know of upcoming and recent events, industry news and blog posts.

Social media responsibilities:
Assist DLFNY in developing social media strategy
Post DLFNY pre-event notices
Post event photos
Write and post post-event happenings
Post notices of new blog posts
Post DLFNY items of interest
Work directly with DLFNY Communications Secretary and other board members
Blog Managing Editor responsibilities:
Curate content: research and suggest topics for blog
Review/edit submitted blog posts
Submit posts for approval
Work directly with DLFNY Communications Secretary and other board members
Qualifications:
Experience with social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn)
Experience with WordPress
Experience with photo editing software
Excellent writing and editing skills
Self-motivated
Ability to attend monthly DLFNY events and board meetings as needed
Knowledge of the lighting and design industries is a plus.

Please note: all work, apart from meeting attendance, will be done remotely (from home or other location of your choice).

This is a part-time contract position and does not include healthcare or other benefits. The expectation is that the position will entail approximately 15-20 hours per month. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
