PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Design lighting in collaboration with internal design team and external stakeholders to realize multiple projects at a range of scales
Install and focus lighting for all projects, including exhibitions, rotations, and gallery upgrades

In the role of Project Lighting Designer, we'll count on you to:

Work under the guidance of a more-senior designer, and work with architectural project teams on all aspects of the art, science and business of lighting design

In the role of Lighting Designer 2, we'll count on you to:

Work with project teams on all aspects of the art, science and business of architectural lighting design
Take responsibility for training and providing guidance to maintain CAD/model production standards.
Work under the guidance of more-senior staff, as well as working independently, to support design presentation and construction documentation production for architectural lighting design projects. Lead Designer Responsibilities:

Project Leadership: Act as the Lead Designer, overseeing and performing complete electrical systems design according to code for assigned projects.

Equipment Specification: Specify project-specific equipment, researching available technologies and resources for commercially available equipment.

Cost and Time Management: Calculate costs and time schedules for proposed work, reviewing files to determine scope and personnel involved.

Documentation and Client Relations: Maintain good client relations, project design records, and provide thorough documentation for permanent records. Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions promptly.

Coordination and Review: Coordinate design and schedules with other disciplines, review project documents for accuracy, and ensure completeness before final checks. Recognize and address potential project problems, seeking advice from the Project Manager. Conduct periodic job site observations, issue addendum information, and mentor designers or technicians.

Senior Lighting Designer Responsibilities:

Collaborate with project managers, junior lighting designers, and team members to develop lighting designs for museums, commercial, and residential projects.
Provide design expertise and project management support.
Understand client specifications and needs, ensuring designs align with them.
Select appropriate commercial lighting fixtures for projects.
Develop architectural drawings and lighting design documents.
Ensure compliance of lighting installations with design documents.

Junior Lighting Designer Responsibilities:
Collaborate with project managers, senior lighting designers, and team members to develop designs.
Analyze and select lighting from appropriate sources.
Produce architectural drawings using AutoCAD or Revit.
Create models, mock-ups, and prototypes.
Work with senior designers and project managers to provide excellent lighting design services.
Communicate with clients and travel for meetings and site visits.

Assist Senior Lighting Designers and Staff with production work (drafting, setup, photometrics, etc) and ensure projects are completed on time.
Assist with research of lighting fixtures and equipment as part of the design process.
Collaborate with the Design Team as well as the Technical Team as required in producing cohesive, successful projects.
Attend lighting conferences and industry tradeshows to further expand and bolster your working knowledge of the craft.
Attendance in-office is mandatory for a minimum (3) days per week as of 2/1/24 with (2) days being remote. In-office days to be determined by Senior Staff or Management.

Require advanced written, verbal communication and problem-solving skills. Qualified candidates will have experience and basic knowledge of lighting design, technology, theory principles and possess minimum skill in AutoCAD 2019, eLume/Revit 2023/BIM360 and AGI 32. Knowledge and experience with any other 3D design software are a bonus. You will be responsible for:
