JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Lighting Designer to join our architectural lighting design team. A successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering successful projects from schematic design through completed construction. This candidate would be able to work independently with little direction from the Studio Leaders and Creative Director.

Daily responsibilities for this role include developing redlines for design documentation, managing timelines, attending meetings and site visits, and scheduling in-house design reviews with the Studio Leaders and the Creative Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree required in Interior Design, Architecture, or Lighting Design
• 6+ years of experience in Architectural Lighting Design
• AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Revu Bluebeam, Agi32 or other light modelling software, COMCheck or other energy compliancy software
• Familiarity with ASHRAE/IES 90.1 Standards, IES Standards and Guidelines and LEED Standards relative to Lighting
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• On-site experience required
• Must have completed projects
• Ability to travel nationally and globally preferred but not required
• Understanding proposals, project fees and billing schedules
• Hand drawing skills are a plus
• Must be fluent in written and spoken English

SALARY RANGE: $75K-$80K + Generous Benefits

Pay: $75,000 - 100,000 annually, commensurate by skill level and experience.

Essential Job Functions

• Work with architectural project teams on all aspects of the art, science and business of lighting design in a collaborative multi-disciplinary environment
• Perform lighting design tasks including complete lighting concepts and designs, luminaire selections, detail development and documentation, client presentation development, photometric lighting calculations and renderings, BIM/Model production, lighting controls, energy and economic calculations and specifications
• Perform Construction Administration (CA) tasks for lighting projects including site observations, pre-wire lighting controls meetings and commissioning of lighting control systems in the field along with aiming and adjusting accent fixtures
• Work with lighting studio staff in the creation of full-scale working lighting mock-ups in our lighting lab
Requirements

• Proficient in REVIT, AutoCAD, AGI, Bluebeam, Adobe Studio, ElumTools and Microsoft Office
• Demonstrates ingenuity and creativity
• Experience with daylighting simulation and/or calculation software is a plus

We are actively recruiting a talented Interior Lighting Designer to work with our Design Studio in our Dallas office to support major projects in market sectors including Aviation, Corporate, Workplace, Healthcare, K-12 and Higher Education. Design services will support projects for offices in Dallas, New York, Phoenix. Candidate will work closely with staff and principals on a wide variety of projects both domestic and international. Project locations will require occasional travel.

Qualifications

Qualified designers already exhibit these strengths and talents:

• Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Architectural or Theatrical Lighting Design/ Engineering, Architecture (NCARB accredited), Interior Design (CIDA accredited) or Electrical Engineering.
• Professional registration including LC credentials or expectation of the LC.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, AGI32 (or other lighting simulation software), AutoCAD and REVIT.
• Proficiency in energy code and lighting calculations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
• Ability to complete tasks with accuracy and with strong attention to detail.
• Familiarity with IESNA guidelines and lighting design best practices.
• Basic understanding of the practice of architecture and architecture design protocols and methods.
• Familiar with sustainable design, including the LEED rating systems.
• 2+ years or more of experience in lighting design.
