Whom are we looking for?
We seek a talented Lighting Designer with 1-3 years of previous experience to join our team. ThinkL emphasizes team collaboration and mentorship by assigning several team members to each project.

The successful candidate will participate in lighting design concept presentations, produce lighting concept renderings, and work closely with the design team to bring their ideas to fruition. You will prepare 3D models, run photometric calculations to confirm lighting concepts and develop lighting documentation, including lighting layout, legend, schedule, budget, and control design and specification.
You will also be responsible for energy and sustainability requirements and documentation, project administration, and daily correspondence with manufacturers, rep agencies, and distributors.

The perfect candidate will have a bachelor’s in architecture, Interior Design, Lighting Design, Landscape Architecture, or Industrial Design, be detail-oriented, and have a comprehensive understanding of lighting in its fundamentals, design aspects, sustainability, technology, and products.
You should also be enthusiastic, passionate, and have an entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable working in a team, collaborating on projects from concept to completion, and capable of organizing your work to support the design team and client.

Principal Responsibilities

• Responsible for architectural lighting design for projects of all sizes including architectural/interiors design coordination; luminaire selection, scheduling, and layout; point by point lighting calculations; controls coordination and sequencing; 3D modeling and rendering; and project cost control.
• Makes major design recommendations and design decisions with little input from senior staff
• Creates and presents client project design presentations both in person and via Webex and which may include renderings, sketches, layouts, and in power point or other formats
• Provides consultation to design engineers for architectural lighting design areas
• Coordinates design and schedule with other disciplines whose services are requested
• Verifies the project meets scope and code requirements
• Maintains project design notebook and provides documentation for permanent record files
• Recognizes potential project problems quickly and seeks advice of the Project Manager
• Calculates dimensional requirements, costs, and time schedules budgeted for personnel involved and coordinate work on the project
• Observes quality and conditions on job sites and provides direction to the contractor for luminaire aiming and or design optimization
• Provides a high level of service to clients
• Other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities

• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of technical plans and drawings
• Knowledge and prediction of physical principals, laws, and their interrelationships, and applications to understand fluid, and material
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings
• The ability to specify products and work with space to achieve a functional, safe, and aesthetically pleasing design
• Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs, AGI and Visual Adobe programs preferred
• Ability to clearly communicate visually, orally, and in writing to individuals or groups
• Knowledge of local energy conservation code as well as lighting related points for LEED certification
• Ability to multi-task across multiple projects and design challenges

Senior Lighting Designer

• Work on lighting design projects from concept through design phases until construction administration;
• Prepare proposals, including scope definitions and fee forecasting for lighting projects;

Our team is an integrated facility and infrastructure design team consisting of core services of Mechanical, Electrical, Structural and Site Civil Engineering. Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Lighting Designer 1, we'll count on you to:

• Provide lighting design support, rendering and presentation development, BIM/ Model production, report research and photometric, energy and economic calculations in support of the Lead Lighting Designer.

Required Qualifications
