Lightning Studio is an architectural lighting design consultancy based in New York that transforms environments into people-centric experiences through the bold power and alluring subtlety of light. YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
Professional experience in lighting design (may be within various fields such as architecture, theatre, events etc.)
Experience in hospitality and/or residential projects is not required, but is an asset
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Create Suite
3D modelling/rendering skills (eg. SketchUp/Rhino) is not required, but is an asset

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Lighting Designer 2, you will have the opportunity to:

● Provide complete lighting concepts and designs, luminaire selections, presentation development, photometric lighting calculations and renderings, BIM/Model production, lighting controls, energy and economic calculations, and specifications.
● Working with architectural project teams on all aspects of the art, science and business of lighting design in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
● Perform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications

● Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering specializing in Lighting Design or closely related field
● 5 years of experience in field of architecture lighting design, devoted majority of professional time to the practice of architectural lighting design
● Strong computer skill using AGI32, Revit and Microsoft Office
● Interest in sustainable design
● Strong verbal communication skills
● Excellent organization and time management skills
● Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
● Able to effectively prioritize multiple tasks
● An attitude and commitment to be an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

● Master's degree in Architectural Engineering specializing in Lighting Design
● Advanced Computer Skills using Adobe Creative Suite, 3Ds Max, Sketch-up, Enscape, Rhino, Grasshopper, Lady Bub, Honeybee, DIVAPE or able to obtain
● Preference will be given to local candidates.

Candidates must have extensive knowledge of lighting design and the associated technology that accompanies it as well. Candidates must command project management skills. The role as Senior lighting designer should be able to occupy the principal role on each project assigned. They would be expected to meet with clients, design, pricing, installation, and whatever it takes to complete the project in an exemplary timely fashion.

Our Senior Lighting Designer is expected to coordinate with our design team, staff, and upscale clientele. They will be responsible for every potential need and obstacle while supporting the client’s needs at times perhaps adjusting the technical framework that may include rigging and engineering temporary structures while possibly designing the architecture of lighting control networks and much more.

Your Responsibilities, Impact, and what we expect:
● Collaborate with clients to determine their needs, vision, and timeline
● Day-to-day design and technical support
● Develop Specifications, strategies, and schedules.
● Create lighting layouts in Blue Beam
● Develop luminaire specifications and schedules.
● Assist in lighting mock-ups and design presentations.
● Attend team and or project meetings and interface with internal specialty groups.
● Demonstrated competency in all phases of architectural lighting.
● Expert knowledge of electrical principles as they relate to artificial lighting.
● Advanced knowledge of lighting control systems, energy codes, and energy-efficient design principals
● Knowledge of Lutron and DMX controls
● Learn our software.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills
