Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Project Lighting Designer, we'll count on you to:
- Work with project teams on all aspects of the art, science and business of architectural lighting design
- Take responsibility for training and providing guidance to maintain CAD/model production standards.
- Work under the guidance of more-senior staff, as well as working independently, to support design presentation and construction documentation production for architectural lighting design projects. Take responsibility for lighting calculations, energy and economic calculations, building certification compliance credits, and CAD/model production, construction documentation, and construction administration support.
- Develop and build working relationships with colleagues and clients
- Support marketing efforts, development of qualification packages, and industry leadership.
- Perform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering specializing in Lighting Design or closely related field
- 5 years of experience devoted to architectural lighting design
- Lighting Certified (LC) through the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP) or the ability to attain
- Member of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) and/or Associate of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD)

Role description
- Act as lighting designer and project manager for National and International projects.
- Be available as a lighting designer resource for projects.
- Follow-up with clients/meetings
- Follow-up and provide coordination for projects

- Perform AGI / photometric calculations
- Capable to a mid level of producing CAD and Revit drawings and all documents related to lighting
- Photoshop and InDesign
- Design and developing project specifications,
- Producing and managing project deliverables (ie working drawings, plans, technical specifications, costs, etc.,
- Produce line drawing / control diagram, understanding DMX and dimming protocol,
- Coordinate team and client meetings,
- Effectively communicating relevant project information to superiors,
- Providing support to project team members,
- Ensuring quality assurance,
- Strong interpersonal skills and positive attitude which you will utilize in a team and customer environment
- Possess excellent decision making and problem-solving skills,
- Creativity and sensibility in lighting design,
- Able to organize, plan and prioritize work,
- Strong oral and written communication skills,
- Autonomy, flexibility, reliability, and responsibility,
- Will be based in Montreal or Ottawa and working from her personal home office, will be required to travel periodically to the Montreal office if needed.
- Zoom or team meetings will be performed from time to time outside regular office hours as we have international clients.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, AGI32 (or other lighting simulation software), AutoCAD and REVIT, Rhino or other 3D modeling program

What You Bring To The Table
- An undergraduate degree in Architectural Engineering, Interior Design, or a closely related discipline

- The capability to apply Lighting Design principles to projects of all sizes and categories
- Experience with AutoCAD, REVIT, and Bluebeam

- You will work as a member of a project team to imagine, conceptualize and design a great lighting experience and take it all the way through the final punch to see the final result
- Presenting your concepts to the project team and the client stakeholders
- Completing design documents, schematics, and spec sheets for approval
- Sourcing materials from a large variety of manufacturers to allow for the best solutions for the project
- Completing a full set of construction documents for signoff

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:
- Knowledge of programming and operating MA2 and MA3 as well as HOG4 consoles.
- Must be willing to work weekends, early mornings and/ or late evenings.

Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-2 years live production industry on the job experience console operation for live events.
