In the role of Senior Lighting Designer, we'll count on you to:

- Work with project teams on all aspects of the art, science and business of lighting design
- Take responsibility for project management, presentations, lighting calculations, cost models, energy and economic calculations, construction documentation, and construction administration support.

- Assist with developing and implementing lighting design concepts through all phases of the design and construction process.

- Review and/or perform lighting calculations, analysis, and rendering studies and use results to inform project decisions.
- Develop luminaire and lighting control specifications and schedules.
- Perform architectural and multi-disciplinary coordination including coordination of relevant mounting details.
- Review of light fixture submittals/samples and preparation of RFI responses during the Construction phase of projects.

Responsibilities

Produce creative lighting concepts from proposal to detail design stage, including lighting layouts and design details, prepare specifications and luminaire schedules, build mock-ups, prepare sketch design proposals and liaise with architects, interior designers, and equipment suppliers;

Produce accurate, efficient, creative and coordinated lighting design utilizing internal and external sources;

Conduct ongoing analyses of fixture packages to identify opportunities and provide suggestions for optimal product and pricing selections;

Interfacing with clients and stakeholders and understand their needs and provide technical solutions on the projects;

Keeping up to date with industry developments with respect to own discipline, other disciplines and engineering innovations and developments on a global scale;

Execute RFP and RFQ materials for preparation of proposal submissions
Lead qualitative response/clarifications to RFQ/RFP’s including preparation of resumes, customized information, project descriptions, etc. for project pursuits
Interface with marketing staff firm-wide and participate in weekly and monthly marketing meetings
Create presentations for Principals/Designers in relation to marketing and business development efforts
Schedule and/or support promotional meetings with clients
Assist with award submissions
Facilitate photography coordination for completed projects
Research clients to expand knowledge and support business development efforts
Involvement in professional and community organizations, including SMPS and other AEC industry Organizations

Directly assist designers to efficiently model high quality BIM models by implementing established firm-wide processes, methods and design guidelines
Collaborate with the design team to successfully integrate design ideas into the BIM Model
Setup new projects in Revit
Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve BIM technical issues
Setup Navisworks clash detection models and generate clash reports
Prepare BIM models for use in Rendering environments, such as Enscape
Performs other tasks/projects as requested by the BIM Manager

Use critical thinking and discretion in assessing specific project needs and communicating effectively to the project manager.
Begin to familiarize/learn the process for reviewing monthly fee drafts with Project Manager/Associate/Principal.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Design lighting in collaboration with internal design team and external stakeholders to realize multiple projects at a range of scales
Install and focus lighting for all projects, including exhibitions, rotations, and gallery upgrades
Provide cost estimates for equipment and timelines for workload, to be reviewed by Design Manager, LD
Source and procure lamps and lighting equipment needs for individual projects
Consult on lighting in collaboration with conservation for light level requirements, UV protection, and color temperature, and other art-relating lighting concerns

Junior Lighting Designer Responsibilities:

Assist Senior Lighting Designers and Staff with production work (drafting, setup, photometrics, etc) and ensure projects are completed on time.
Assist with research of lighting fixtures and equipment as part of the design process.
Collaborate with the Design Team as well as the Technical Team as required in producing cohesive, successful projects.
Attend lighting conferences and industry tradeshows to further expand and bolster your working knowledge of the craft.
Attendance in-office is mandatory for a minimum (3) days per week as of 2/1/24 with (2) days being remote. In-office days to be determined by Senior Staff or Management.

Require advanced written, verbal communication and problem-solving skills. Qualified candidates will have experience and basic knowledge of lighting design, technology, theory principles and possess minimum skill in AutoCAD 2019, eLume/Revit 2023/BIM360 and AGI 32. Knowledge and experience with any other 3D design software are a bonus. You will be responsible for:

Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering specializing in Lighting Design or closely related field
10 years of experience devoted to architecture lighting design
Lighting Certified (LC) through the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP)
Professional member of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) and/or Certified Lighting Designer (CLD) through the IALD.
Member of Illuminating Engineering Society.
Extensive knowledge of the art, science and business of lighting design

Develop and execute lighting system designs for live shows and facility infrastructure as assigned.
