WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Lighting Designer for our Seattle, WA office. The following locations will also be considered: Irvine, CA; Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco, CA. Your Impact
- Under general supervision, provides technical support for project designers with the production of lighting projects.
- Assist with performing basic professional lighting design work relating to conducting research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, layout, and systems to determine conformance with applicable standards and codes.
- Assist with basic technical assistance on various design, installation, and integration issues relating to creating state of the art lighting design that is innovative and inspiring, developing luminaire and controls specifics, applying day lighting/harvesting, and creating spaces that impact building capabilities, ambiance, safety, and security.
- Assist with generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation and specifications using electronic systems, artistic renderings, drawings, diagrams, illustrations, spreadsheets, and reports.
- Perform lighting calculations, analysis and rendering studies and use results to inform project decisions.
- Document lighting layouts in Revit and/or CADD.
- Assist in lighting mock-ups and design presentations.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications

Job Description
This position will involve meeting with the public to discuss lighting demands based on company standards and requirements. Site visits to determine customer lighting demands for residential, business and subdivisions. Ability to identify and verify the utility infrastructure.
Duties will include
- Formulating and designing an outdoor lighting plan to best meet the customers’ needs that is within the guidelines of the standards.
- Communication skills will be crucial for discussions with clients, customers, crews, and other agencies. There will be intermittent days of fielding and days in the office designing.
- Ability to maintain a balance between schedules is imperative. Considerable walking, as well as carrying equipment, staking poles and flagging routes onsite is required, Strong skills acknowledging and managing customer complaints and the ability to find resolutions is essential.

Overview Of Position
Osborn is a fully integrated multi-disciplined design firm that uses a specialized team approach to engineering projects. These teams are comprised of a staff of professionals that provide designs for all phases of a wide range of projects. Osborn has specialists in architectural lighting design, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and life safety, technology engineering, transportation, and commissioning.
Position Responsibilities
- Design and plan lighting and electrical systems in collaboration with a variety of professionals, including interior designers, engineers, and architects. Lighting design can be for residential, commercial, health care, recreation, historical, or industrial spaces. 50%
- Using AGI32, Visual, Adobe Photoshop/InDesign and Revit/AutoCAD
- Design a lighting plan for the site according to customer specifications. 15%
- During the design process, liaise between the client and engineering departments, balancing client desires and aesthetics with practical concerns. 15%
- Manage lighting design within project budget constraints. 20%
Job Requirements/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Lighting Engineering, or a closely related field (or its equivalent). In lieu of degree, consideration will be given to candidates that have extensive experience in the field.
- NCQLP Certification or requirement to achieve certification.
- Proficiency in Adobe suite, AutoCAD, Revit, AGI32, or other 3D lighting calculation software is required.
