Under general supervision, provides technical support for project designers with the production of lighting projects.
Assist with performing basic professional lighting design work relating to conducting research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, layout, and systems to determine conformance with applicable standards and codes.
Assist with basic technical assistance on various design, installation, and integration issues relating to creating state of the art lighting design that is innovative and inspiring, developing luminaire and controls specifics, applying day lighting/harvesting, and creating spaces that impact building capabilities, ambiance, safety, and security.
Assist with generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation and specifications using electronic systems, artistic renderings, drawings, diagrams, illustrations, spreadsheets, and reports.

Develop and execute lighting system designs for live shows and facility infrastructure as assigned.
Participate in project's creative development and define scope by identifying system needs and functions based on creative goals.
Provide a coordinated structure throughout the entire process of development through implementation of live show entertainment products, and development of equipment budgets.
Guide the design progress through buy off, procurement, installation, and test & adjust, programming, rehearsals and opening, concluding with As-Built documentation for operating partners at the venue.
Work with CAD department to ensure 3D modeling requirements are met/delivered.
Create design drawings: Plots, Plans, Line, Layouts, 3D pre-visualization, Power/Weight load estimates, etc.
Work with Procurement, Technical Direction, and Production to comply with Company buying standards and schedule of receiving equipment/products/etc.

10 years of experience devoted to architecture lighting design
Lighting Certified (LC) through the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP)
Professional member of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) and/or Certified Lighting Designer (CLD) through the IALD.
Member of Illuminating Engineering Society.
Extensive knowledge of the art, science and business of lighting design
Excellent presentation skills and strong computer skill using AGI32, eLumtools, Revit, AutoCad and Microsoft Office

Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Senior Lighting Designer, we'll count on you to:
Work with project teams on all aspects of the art, science and business of lighting design
Take responsibility for project management, presentations, lighting calculations, cost models, energy and economic calculations, construction documentation, and construction administration support.
Support all marketing efforts and coordinate scope of services.
Maintain knowledge of lighting needs for HDR’s primary market sectors: Healthcare, Science and Technology, Federal, Civic, Corporate Commercial, and Entertainment.
Supervise less-experienced lighting designers as needed
Publish articles and submit projects for lighting design awards.

Produce creative lighting concepts from proposal to detail design stage, including plans and design details, prepare specifications and schedules, build mock-ups, prepare sketch design proposals and liaise with architects, interior designers, and equipment suppliers;
Attend design and site meetings, and produce technical reports;
Produce accurate, efficient, creative and coordinated lighting design utilizing internal and external sources;
Conduct ongoing analyses of fixture packages to identify opportunities and provide suggestions for optimal product and pricing selections;
Mentoring and supervising the output of junior staff;
Interfacing with clients and stakeholders and understand their needs and provide technical solutions on the projects;
Ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with company and client quality requirements;
