How you’ll spend your day:
- Working as a member of a project team to imagine, conceptualize and design lighting experiences that will thrill your client – taking it from concept to final punch
- Presenting your concepts to the project team and the client stakeholders
- Completing design documents, schematics, and spec sheets for approval
- Sourcing materials in the best interest of the company to comply with the specifications for the project
- Completing a full set of construction documents for signoff
- Aggregating regular status reports for your project manager accurately and on time
- Jumping in wherever you can to bring our work to life!

What you bring to the table:
- An undergraduate degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a closely related discipline
- Professional experience working in an architectural / lighting or MEP firm with an emphasis on lighting design
- Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD, REVIT and Bluebeam
- Ability to apply Lighting Design principles to projects of all sizes and categories
- Capable of managing your time and activities for optimum productivity – we love our half-day Fridays!

Professional Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Lighting Design, Electrical Engineering, Architecture or Architectural Engineering
10+ years of related experience required for this position
Proficient with Lighting Analysts AGI32, Elumtools or other lighting design software.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook) and PDF software such as Adobe or Bluebeam
NCQLP Lighting Certified (LC) and/or IALD Certified Lighting Designer (CLD)
Experience in building lighting/electrical design
Experience with the National Electrical Code and basic low voltage power calculations
Ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills to effectively interface and communicate with team members, customers, subcontractors, and vendors
Familiarity with government, client, and industry local codes, regulations, and standards governing design and construction projects
Ability to be self-motivated and to research and troubleshoot problems as they arise
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deliverable deadlines
Complete work in efficient and accurate manner
Ability to train and mentor junior lighting designers/engineers.
Availability to occasionally travel to project locations
Other Preferred Skills Include
Experience with Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD
Professional engineering (PE) license
Knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria
Knowledge of SKM or Easy Power electrical simulation software
Compensation

The salary range for this position is $90.000-$120,000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Design, install, operate, and maintain stage lighting system for rehearsals and performances as needed. Serve as lighting department head when needed. Supervise and direct overhire electricians and follow-spot operators. Assist visiting lighting designers with any setup, programming, etc that they might need. Maintain adequate lighting supplies: gel, lamps, other expendables. Loading, unloading and setting up new lighting equipment. Participate in production meetings throughout the project. Make recommendations for system upgrades. Keep lighting paperwork up to date. Support the maintenance of facilities on and off the stage as needed and as available. Work with other departments to support events as needed including fundraisers and possible off-site events. Performs related duties and projects as assigned. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Working theatrical lighting design. Design experience for concert, musical and straight theatre, dance, and special events. Operational knowledge of theatrical dimming and control networks. DMX, EDMX, ETCNet. Thorough understanding of ETC control console: Ion XE Advanced skills as Master Electrician: Instrument hang, circuiting and maintenance. Supervisory experience directing lighting crews. Inherent comfort level for quickly adapting to changing environments. Willingness to work an irregular schedule, reliable transportation. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to take initiative, work independently and collaboratively to solve problems and improve efficiencies. Ability to manage simultaneous, multiple projects, establish priorities, and meet deadlines. Proven and effective communication skills to interact positively with ECA clients and staff. An ability to exercise a high level of professionalism, judgment, and above all, discretion, and confidentiality. Computer skills preferred include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
