What You Will Do
- The Designer will assist lighting designers, architects, engineers and project managers in the execution of specific assignments
- Prepare lighting design calculations and documentation for schematic design, design development and construction documents

- Review and process construction administration documents

Entry-Level Lighting Designer Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in lighting design, interior design or related field
- 0-2 years of experience in the design of building lighting systems

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Lighting Designer for our Seattle, WA office. The following locations will also be considered: Irvine, CA; Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco, CA. Be involved in projects with our Specialty Services Lighting Design Group and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact
- Under general supervision, provides technical support for project designers with the production of lighting projects.
- Assist with performing basic professional lighting design work relating to conducting research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, layout, and systems to determine conformance with applicable standards and codes.
- Assist with basic technical assistance on various design, installation, and integration issues relating to creating state of the art lighting design that is innovative and inspiring, developing luminaire and controls specifics, applying day lighting/harvesting, and creating spaces that impact building capabilities, ambiance, safety, and security.
- Assist with generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation and specifications using electronic systems, artistic renderings, drawings, diagrams, illustrations, spreadsheets, and reports.
- Perform lighting calculations, analysis and rendering studies and use results to inform project decisions.
- Document lighting layouts in Revit and/or CADD.
- Assist in lighting mock-ups and design presentations.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Lighting Design, Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Interior Design, Theater Production Design or closely related discipline.
- 5 to 7 years of relevant post education experience in lighting design and studio experience.
- Familiarity with process and concepts for sustainable lighting strategies, principles, and practices.
