Senior Lighting Designer

This Senior Lighting Designer position will service The Lighting Practice’s Dallas, TX office and clients as well as work collaboratively with TLP teams based in Philadelphia, PA and New York, NY.

We are seeking talented, motivated people who:
● Have 6 to 10 years experience in lighting design, with a background in interior design or architecture is preferred.
● Someone who is capable of managing and mentoring a team
● Someone who is a motivated “self-starter” and creatively searches for solutions
● Preferred to have skills in the software we use regularly (Revit, CAD, AGi, Office Suite, Acrobat, Bluebeam, InDesign, Illustrator)

A Senior Lighting Designer will work on a variety of projects with a Principal and other Lighting Designers. Their responsibilities include:
● Coordinate & communicate with allied team members (architects, engineers, manufacturers, etc.)
● Oversee, develop & validate lighting design concepts against project goals & criteria
● Plan and oversee the documentation of the design
● Create and uphold internal schedule for project milestones
● Construction administration

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
● Bachelor’s Degree in Lighting Design or a related field (Interior Design (preferred) or Architecture)
● 6 – 10 years of experience in the architectural lighting industry
● Experience working on a project from SD through CA
● Experience managing client interaction and presentations
● Strong communication skills (oral, written, and graphic presentations)
● Fluent in spoken and written English

SOFTWARE SKILLS (required)
● Lighting calculation programs (AGI32), BIM Software (Revit experience preferred), MS Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Helpful, not required:
● SketchUp, Rhinoceros 3D (Rhino3D), Auto CAD, Adobe Creative Cloud experience is a plus, but not required (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign)

Developing presentation materials, renderings, and graphic packages.

Collaboration with design team.

Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Can-do approach to project work and assignments.
Competent knowledge of Revit.

Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to research and present design options.

Job Responsibilities
As an architectural lighting designer you will support the lighting studio working towards our designs that are inspiring, demanding and highly collaborative. You will be responsible for providing trade-specific system design: layout, calculations (utilizing appropriate software), and coordination with the designs of other trades (architectural and engineering / internal and external). You will conduct field inspections to determine existing conditions and to coordinate new work.

Additional Responsibilities Include
● Create designs from concept through construction administration under the direction of the senior designer(s),
● Support the design efforts of lighting systems for new installations, system retrofits, system replacement and system upgrades for a wide variety of projects and project types
● Learn drawing organization and company standards
● Take ownership of completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the work assignments
