WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Associate Lighting Designer for our New York, NY office. Be involved in projects with our Property & Buildings Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact
- Under general supervision, provides technical support for project designers with the production of lighting projects. Tasks may include assistance with the research, design, concept development, presentation development, mock-ups, lighting layout, and architectural coordination for all project types.
- Assist with performing professional lighting design work relating to conducting research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, layout, and systems to determine conformance with applicable standards and codes.
- Assist with technical assistance on various design, installation, and integration issues relating to creating state of the art lighting design that is innovative and inspiring, developing luminaire and controls specifications, applying daylighting/harvesting, and creating spaces that impact building capabilities, ambiance, safety, and security.
- Assist with generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation and specifications using electronic systems, artistic renderings, drawings, diagrams, illustrations, spreadsheets, and reports.
- Perform lighting calculations, analysis and rendering studies and use results to inform project decisions.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Lighting Design, Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Interior Design, Theater Production Design or related degree.
- 1 to 3 years of relevant post education experience.
- Prior internship experience, leadership experience, or relevant coursework.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills.
