Introduction:
Lux Collaborative is an independent architectural lighting design studio that believes research, communication, and a collaborative working process form the foundation for design excellence. We seek an intellectually curious Lighting Designer, with a positive mindset and proactive attitude, to join us in our studio in Dumbo, Brooklyn. You will be an integral part of our interdisciplinary group of designers that collaborate at all levels with clients and project stakeholders.
Required Skills
Effective visual, written, and verbal communication skills
Ability to build physical models and hand-sketch ideas / concepts
Proficiency in the following software: Microsoft Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, Revit, Photometric Software (AGI32 or Dialux), 3D Modeling Programs (3ds Max, Rhino or SketchUp).
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or above in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, or related field.
Up to 5 years of related experience in the architectural lighting design industry.
Demonstrates general understanding of the principles of light and lighting technologies (sources, luminaires, controls), and metrics of light.
Demonstrates general understanding of how lighting influences the perception of architecture and how lighting design fits into the architectural design process.

Project Lighting Designer

Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Project Lighting Designer, we'll count on you to:
Work under the guidance of a more-senior designer, and work with architectural project teams on all aspects of the art, science and business of lighting design
Take responsibility for project lighting documentation, CAD/model production, presentation material and renderings, lighting calculations, energy and economic calculations, and building certification compliance credits.
Perform other duties as needed
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering specializing in Lighting Design or closely related field
Strong computer skills with core competencies using AGI32, eLumtools, Revit, AutoCad, and Microsoft Office
Strong verbal communication skills
Excellent organization and time management skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Able to effectively prioritize multiple tasks
Effective working individually and within team environments

Candidate shall have a bachelor's or master's degree in architecture, interior design, lighting design or similar.
1-2 years experience at a lighting design firm is a plus, but not required.
We are looking for a designer who is:
